Litigation Legal Assistant

Job Description:

Our client, a Houston area law firm, has a new opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary/Legal Administrative Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience supporting attorneys in a corporate or transactional setting and will have advanced MS Word skills, including experience with redlining, experience with Workshare Compare (Litera) or similar program, and edit and proofread legal documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare agendas, orders, and resolution required for Board of Directors meetings and prepare agendas for election matters.

  • Prepares documents for obtaining the approval for annexation of land to districts and administers the applications for such approval.

  • Provide documents for the required annual review of investment policies and investment strategies; prepare required certificate pages.

  • Maintain district files and permanent documents.

  • Review and finalize correspondence, including proofreading, editing and redlining.

Requirements:

  • 2 or more years of experience supporting multiple corporate/transactional attorneys in a law firm or corporate legal department is required.

  • Advanced knowledge and skills of all Microsoft Office suite of programs (especially Word, Outlook, Excel), Workshare Compare (Litera), and NetDocs (or other document management systems) as well as working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat is required.

  • Knowledge of Texas real property online recordings (CSC - ePrepare), Texas Secretary of State recordings/searches (SOS Direct), and Texas Comptroller (eSystems) is preferred, but not required.

  • Knowledge of e-filing in both State and Federal courts is a plus.

Benefits:

Compensation is a competitive salary based on experience and skill level, with eligibility for overtime pay. A discretionary annual bonus may also be available.

Pay: $75,000 – $110,000 per year DOE
